LITTLE ROCK— On Thursday, July 15 more than 300 Neighbors for Frank Scott, Jr. celebrated the opening of the re-election campaign office in the heart of Little Rock at 1124 S. Battery St. Supporters hosted a block party with food and plenty of drinks to help Mayor Scott cut the ceremonial ribbon, welcome residents inside, and sign up to volunteer for the Growing Forward movement.
Little Rock resident Sky Brower and State Sen. Joyce Elliott (D-31) fired up the crowd and explained why they support Mayor Scott’s re-election.
“I’m proud to support the re-election campaign for Mayor Scott and look forward to seeing everyone at the polls, so please go out and vote, vote, vote,” Brower said.
“Mr. Mayor, not only am I a passenger on the train you’re conducting, but a believer in the destination,” Elliott said. She also asked supporters that “when you get weary and people try to tell you what’s not possible and all we need to do are the same, old thing we’ve been doing, you tell them ‘uh uh we have a different destination,’ and we have the right conductor, and his name is Mr. Mayor Frank Scott.”
Mayor Scott delivered impassioned remarks about his administration’s successes over the last four years and why his re-election will benefit all Little Rock residents.
“This campaign is about you—your safety, your jobs, your quality of life,” Scott told the crowd.
“I asked God for a double portion—more capacity to help our city reach its full potential, from College Station to Chenel, Pettaway to Pleasant valley, Hillcrest to the Heights, and from Geyer Springs to John Barrow. See, there’s a reason why we chose 12th Street for our headquarters. As the Isley Brothers said, we’ve got more work to do.”
Pastor C. Dennis Edwards of the St. John Missionary Baptist Church delivered a moving prayer before the ribbon was cut, after which DJ Deja Blu got the party started and prompted supporters to check out the campaign headquarters.
The office will be a staging point for volunteers as they blanket Little Rock’s neighborhoods to get the word out about Mayor Scott’s Promises Made and Promises Kept and his vision for the next four years. Residents can also drop in to learn how they can be involved in the campaign and pick up yard signs and other Growing Forward literature and merchandise.
Since Scott took office, five times more jobs have been created over these three and a half years than the previous five years combined. And to spur on economic development in neighborhoods south of 630 and east of 30, Scott’s economic incentives have led to the City waiving more than $1 million in permit fees. In 2022, the Scott administration has designated $1 million for targeted development in these areas.
Along with progressive reforms to at the police department that increase transparency and accountability, more residents are choosing to live in Little Rock, which grew to more than 202,000 residents, according to the 2020 U.S. Census.
Office hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment. Residents can always reach the campaign via email at team@frankscottjr.com and by phone during office hours at 501.353.2830.
